I've served as youth pastor at Evangelical Bible Church for just about nine years - and I love it! I must say, as I look down through the years, there are classes that really stick out as having led well. Some classes have left more of an impression on the youth group than others. This year's class of 2009 is an exceptional class and will be forever rememberd for the impact they have made on our youth group.
.
This graduating class is very dear to both me and Kelsey. We have immensely enjoyed the many years getting to know you better and better and watch you grow closer to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We truly hope that, instead of only drawing you closer to us, we have helped you draw closer to Christ. He is the One that will "never leave you nor forsake you."
.
When I think about this year's class of 2009, the first word that comes to my mind is the word consistency. I have never seen a class, as a whole, follow through with their commitment to the local church quite like I've watched you. Your commitment to the Lord is evident when you show up Sunday morning - even when it's 8:00am following prom! You guys are not the "loudest" class I've had, but your consistency in this area speaks volumes to the rest of us! You serve God by serving people. Thanks for your countless hours volunteering for VBS, singing on the worship team, serving in AWANA, volunteering at UGM, setting tables for business meetings and asisting elderly people during meals.
.
There is one more thing you can do for the youth group you will leave behind in a few months. You can pray. Pray for those who follow in your footsteps. Pray that many will rise to be godly leaders for the youth group. Pray that many will stop and think before settling for what the world considers success and ask whether or not it is success in the eyes of God. Pray that many will take your place in serving others. Pray that the ministry of EBC will be faithful to the Lord and impact many others in our church and community. This is a gift I ask you to keep on giving back to your youth group in the coming years.
.
Although your time in high school youth group is nearing its end, my office door is always open, you know where I live, and you should have my number by now! You are my brothers and sisters in the Lord and family always stays in touch.
.
Thank you for your courageous stand for the Lord!
.
